This is a chance for you to learn how to contribute from people who are already contributors all in one day!<\/p>\n<p>It really does not matter what your knowledge\u00a0of\u00a0WordPress is, nor do you need to be a developer or coder to be involved. There will be plenty of people on hand to help you get started!<\/p>\n<h2>Be Prepared<\/h2>\n<p>Please make sure that you <a href=\"http:\/\/wclondon.polldaddy.com\/s\/contributor-day-tickets\">register for the contributor day<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On the day,\u00a0make sure you bring your laptop and charger!<\/p>\n<p>If you need any adaptors for your plugs to be converted to UK plug sockets, please don&#8217;t forget these too!<\/p>\n<p>If you can, please make sure that you have the following:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/register.php\">WordPress.org account<\/a><\/li>\n<li>WordPress.org <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/chat\/\">Slack account<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Slack &#8211; either\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/apps\">installed on your machine<\/a>\u00a0or use the <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/messages\">web app<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For some teams, it is also necessary to have a local installation of WordPress. If you do not have a local installation of WordPress, feel free to use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/meta\/handbook\/about\/get-involved\/setting-up-your-machine\/\">this guide to set one up<\/a>. If not, there will be a set up team on hand to help you out on the day.<\/p>\n<h2>The different ways to contribute<\/h2>\n<p>There are a number of areas where you can make a difference. Contributions to WordPress are split into different teams.<\/p>\n<p>If you are unsure of what team you would like to join, don&#8217;t panic. There will be people on the day whom can help you find what team will suit you best.<\/p>\n<p>You can also move from different teams if you find something isn&#8217;t to your taste.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about each team please follow the links below.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/accessibility\/getting-started-at-a-contributory-day\/\">Accessibility<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Make sure that WordPress core and all of WordPress\u2019 resources are accessible.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/codex.buddypress.org\/participate-and-contribute\/\">BuddyPress<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0Support the tool which builds WordPress communities.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/handbook\/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day\/\">Core<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0You can write code, fix bugs, debate decisions, and help with WordPress development.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/polyglots\/\">Polyglots<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>WordPress is used all over the world and in many different languages. If you\u2019re a polyglot, contribute by translating WordPress into your own language.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/support\/handbook\/\">Support<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>Answering a question in the support forums or IRC is one of the easiest ways to start contributing. Everyone knows the answer to something! You may need to have access to a test WordPress site (to be able to reproduce problems people mention)<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/themes\/handbook\/get-involved\/\">Themes<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Reviewing Themes sharpens your own Theme development skills. You can help out and join the discussion on the blog.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\">And More<\/a>!<\/h3>\n<p>There are many other teams that are not currently listed.
