WCLDN 2016 will have a crèche!

We’re very pleased to be working in conjunction with Nipperbout to provide childcare services during WordCamp London 2016.

Nipperbout is the UK’s most trusted national provider of mobile childcare & children’s activity entertainment for 0-16 year-olds. They’ve been delivering conference and event childcare to exhibitions, conferences and festivals for 21 years and are the UK’s only national mobile childcare provider regularly inspected by Ofsted.

Nipperbout have just been awarded ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted, making this their tenth annual Outstanding!

How will it work?

Thank you to everyone that submitted to our Call for Papers! We’ve been genuinely overwhelmed with the amount of incredible submissions we’ve received and cannot wait to get through them all.

Our Call for Papers is now officially closed!

We can’t wait to see you all there!

Speaking At WCLDN: A Case Study

Talking on stage in front of a crowd of people is one of the scariest things some of us will have to do in our professional lives. The WordPress community strives to ensure WordCamp’s offer a warm, welcoming and encouraging environment where you can present your ideas and share your experience.

If you have so much as an inkling to speak, take a look at our case study below from a previous WordCamp London speaker, Jo Waltham.

FAQ: Questions You Want To Ask About Speaking At WCLDN

We want to hear your stories!

So to encourage you along, we’ve brainstormed some of the most frequently asked questions about applying to speak at WordCamp’s – and we’ve done our best to answer them here for you, in full. If there’s anything you feel we’ve missed, or something you think is worth adding – please leave us a comment below.

What is a Call for Papers?

A Call for Papers is the WCLDN 2016 version of a Call for Speakers.

This year, we’ve decided to open a ‘Call for Papers’, rather than a ‘Call for Speakers’, as we wanted to open up the variety of session formats available and encourage you to submit something other than a standard presentation. If you have an idea for a panel or something else, don’t hesitate to apply!

Please note, our ‘Call for Papers’ does not limit applications to academics only; it is open to anyone and everyone!

Be Inspired: A Successful Submission to our Call for Papers from WCLDN 2015

Anyone who wants to apply to speak at a WordCamp wants to know what makes a successful submission. We don’t have an answer: we feel that what stands out about all our successful submissions is that they have nothing in common.

We want speakers who will entertain, educate, inform and delight our attendees; below is a successful submission to our call for papers from WordCamp London 2015 designed to inspire you and encourage you to apply with your idea.

Please do remember that we have a slightly different submission format this year, so you may see different questions; however, this example gives you a general idea of what we are looking for, and helps guide your own submission. We’ve omitted some of the questions and answers to ensure Jo’s personal information isn’t made public; but we’ve included everything else which is relevant to submitting a paper.
