Our call for Speakers closes on the 21 February 2019 and we’ve had some great submissions already. We’re keen to make sure everyone has an opportunity to get involved with the community and contribute your knowledge.
With only one week to go until the deadline, it’s time to make sure you have sent your application. If you would like to share your knowledge and experience with the community at one of the biggest WordCamps in Europe, then this is for you – Call for Speakers.
Be a speaker
Speaking at WordCamps, running a workshop or participating in a panel is a great way to give back to our amazing community. It’s also an excellent opportunity to raise your profile and promote yourself and the work of your organisation within the ecosystem. Todd Halfpenny, from the WCLDN Speakers Team, said: “Submissions can be in a variety of formats including short-talks, long-talks, workshops and panels. WordCamp London will showcase around 50 speakers. It’s an amazing chance to present on a topic in your specialist area.”
In this YouTube video on public speaking at WordCamps, previous WCLDN organiser Diane Wallace talks about the benefits and shares tips on how to develop good topics and abstracts. We are working to reach more London area-based potential speakers through collaborations with WordPress London (WPLDN) and other tech groups. Diane’s talk in February was live-streamed on social media, thanks to WPLDN. If you have a WordPress group which would be interested in working with us, email london@wordcamp.org
Applications can be for any topics that relate to the WordPress ecosystem, such as, accessibility, plugin development, security. Thanks to everyone who has replied to our Call for Topics.
Just some of the topic ideas which have come in which could inspire your speaker application:
- code performance
- using the new WordPress block editor
- localising content with international sites
- creating plugins and apps
- good practice in areas like development and project management
